Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Epigenetics—the study of heritable changes in gene expression that do not involve alterations to the DNA sequence—is crucial to the understanding cancer biology. This special issue delves into the pivotal mechanisms of DNA methylation, including hypermethylation and hypomethylation, and their impacts on gene regulation and cancer development. Additionally, various types of histone modifications, such as histone methylation and histone acetylation, which significantly influence chromatin structure and gene expression, are also topics of interest. This special issue aims to provide comprehensive insights into the roles of epigenetic modifications in oncogenesis and tumor progression. Of additional interest to this special issue is the potential applicability of epigenetic markers as diagnostic tools and therapeutic targets for cancers. Furthermore, papers involving recent advancements in epigenetic research and their implications for personalized medicine are also welcomed. Addressing multiple facets of this theme, this special issue will serve as a vital reference for researchers and clinicians striving to understand the epigenetic landscape of carcinogenesis and cancer progression, as well as to develop innovative approaches to diagnosing, treating, and preventing various cancers.
